I initially overlooked this one since (the first half of) the opening track doesn't jive with me. However, overlooking that, it's probably my favorite TTNG album! A bit more varied and with higher highs (in my opinion) than Disappointment Island but more matured than Animals.

Certainly a controversial direction for the band, but this album ultimately rests as my favorite from TTNG. The technical mastery of their previous albums is still present here along with some very thought provoking and philosophical lyrics. I may not always agree with the lyrical messaging, but this is an album which rewards careful listening.
